Superstar Rajinikanth took part in the final day function and also distributed mementoes to yesteryear actresses M N Rajyam and Anjali Devi. Speaking in the function Rajinikanth said that he was not punctual for the event since he considered it a family function.

He said that in the year 1979 the Nadigar Sangam building was inaugurated and M G R presided over the function. Rajini added that for this event policemen did not allow him inside the auditorium and after the intervention of some volunteers he was permitted inside, but had to watch the play ‘Ashoka Chakravarthi’ played by Sivaji Ganesan standing in one corner of the hall.
